Dana Crash Still On My Mind

My Imagination

I have rolled back the tape so many times, and for a very long time the confusion of what went wrong and on that Aircraft would keep eroding my imagination.

The Pilot:
Was he aware of the danger that the plane would not make it to Lagos? If he was, at the point where the obvious stared him in the face, what crossed his mind? Bravado or Submission?

If he was aware, did he take the chance to deliver the passengers to Lagos as demanded by his employers, or he took the leap of faith at the expense of the priceless human lives on the aircraft along with his life?

My mind is racing and wondering, what was it that played on his mind before he announce to these wonderful people aboard his Aircraft, that ETA in Lagos shall be 55minutes?

When he was finally Airborne did he say a prayer to God, that unto thy hands i commit this trip?

Or the Airline Engineers just kept mute, not telling him the lurking danger in flying that ill fated Aircraft to Lagos in its faulty state?

The Air Hostesses
Every time i fly, i ponder on this profession in particular, my flight is an hour or and half flight, but they fly in continuum as required by their employment.

How do they feel at every take off and landing? The thumping of their hearts i could hear in my ears, the Thank you Jesus at the close of the day is spontaneous on their lips.

Now this, the dreaded ominous day suddenly crept up on them, so close but yet endless landing.

The May Day Call by the Captain is the most dreaded of all calls aboard a Ship or Aircraft,
when this call was made, did they react immediately by going through the standard emergency crash landing procedure or they were too numbed to jump start the procedure?

Young Soulful always smiling friendly hostesses, gone! A proud profession made dangerous by Airline Regulatory Authorities in Nigeria.

They must have concluded at the point of the crash, finally the day we dread most is here. What a way to count their days on mother earth at their prime.

The Passengers
How do you read the going ons, in the minds of 140 something passengers when it was inevitable that the Aircraft was going to CRASH?

My summation is SHOCK absolute CONFUSION, EMOTIONS, PRAYERS and FINALLY Submission to DEATH.

My Conclusion

Do Nigerians in key positions that are entrusted with the provisions of an enabling global practices in all ramifications of human comfort and safety really understand the magnitude of their responsibilities?

I am yet to find out.

May the souls of these wonderful and lovely creations of GOD rest in perfect peace. May the good Lord address all of their Sins on the Officials that caused their premature deaths.

I am truly Mad and Sad.
